Soups

Growing up, I always thought of soup as a “sick day food”. The number of times my Mom made chicken noodle soup when I had a sore throat…well…oh the comfort. But now, as a Mom, I appreciate making soup and a sandwich a dinner option. Especially if I have a batch of soup already made in the freezer and all I have to do is thaw and warm it up. And sometimes, we don’t even do the sandwich part! A hearty baguette is all you need alongside a good homemade soup.

Casseroles

I have an urge to fill my freezer with casseroles. Something healthy and yummy and good to go straight in the oven. A make-and-forget type of casserole.

My kids LOVE lasagna (and I don’t make it often enough). Perhaps, I should branch out as well and try pizza casserole or ravioli casserole.

Shepherd’s pie and chicken pot pie are also favourites of mine (not so much my kids unfortunately…ugh). However, a breakfast casserole is always a hit.

Slow Cooker

 

Oh the glory of a slow cooker. I use mine at least once a week in the winter. Homemade spaghetti sauce, beef stews, chicken. Let me tell you about slow cooker chicken!

I know people are insane about their pressure cookers these days…but you have to admit slow cookers till rock the kitchen.
