Banana Chocolate Chip Bites

September 20, 2016

I MacGyver’d this Banana Chocolate Chip Bites recipe as a school snack idea. It’s only 3 ingredients and takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish to make a batch. This are a good nut-free, dairy-free snack idea.  Need a boost to your day?…give these banana chocolate chip bites a try…

Banana Chocolate Chip Bites 3 ingredient snack

Banana Chocolate Chip Bites

Preheat oven to 350

You will need:

  • 2 ripe bananas (I keep ripe bananas in my freezer to make my awesome BANANA BREAD RECIPE and also my CHOCOLATE CHIP BANANA BREAD RECIPE — so making these banana chocolate chip bites was a breeze because I already had all the ingredients).
  • 1 cup of rolled or quick cook oats (I used rolled oats in this baking du jour)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (use dairy free chocolate chips to make this truly dairy free)

Chocolate Chip Banana Bites recipe

Aside: I’m not sure if these fit into a protein bite recipe category because A) I’m not a nutritionist and B) I think bananas = potassium and oats = fiber and chocolate chips = goodness

First, I defrosted my frozen bananas on a plate (if you are using fresh ripe bananas – skip this step). Next, in mixer, add in bananas and set mixer to medium setting to get them blended up. Then, add in oats. Mix well. Finally, add in mini chocolate chips (I do use regular chocolate chips because no one has dairy issues here). Banana Chocolate Chip Bites recipe

I used a mini melon baller to scoop the banana/oat/chocolate chip mixture onto a lined cookie sheet. Made the perfect bite-size mounds. I was hands-free on the mound-making (i.e. I just scooped and plopped the mixture down…no hands needed to shape the bites). Banana Chocolate Chip Bites 3 ingredient snacks nut-free dairy free snack

Then, I baked the banana chocolate chip bites for 17 minutes. Makes 20 snack bites.

I will have to try these. My daughter is a health nut but craves sweets some time. Sugar makes her break out. But these sound like they will be ok for her.
