Little People – Big Discoveries

October 26, 2013 5 Comments

Little People – Big Discoveries. Yes, kids. And also Fisher-Price. Put the two together and you get my son…role playing with his new Little People Characters while I witness big discoveries of his imagination. TEASER: there’s a mention of an awesome Fisher-Price Contest in this post.

Fisher-Price Little People

There is my son. Playing. A vehicle must always be involved. Always. Luckily, the NEW Fisher-Price Little People characters fit perfectly in our not-so-new-but-still-really-good-Fisher-Price vehicles. Quite often I overhear *insert toddler voice here*

“Oh no CRASH!”

“He has a boo boo”

Toddler boy role play. Sometimes violent. Sometimes creative. Always intriguing.

Little People - Big Discoveries

“To da hosbital!”

What I see is that he “gets” role play. He speaks for the characters and also speaks the story to himself (a story he creates on his own). I also see that he has discovered the world around him. He knows how a car drives, how a helicopter flies…that you go to the hospital to see a doctor when you have a boo boo.

Fisher-Price Little People

The role play doesn’t always “fit” a story board – like the time the dragon from Mike the Knight met these Fisher-Price characters.  The caption on this picture would certainly be…Little People – Big Discoveries (and add in “eek-a-dragon!).

As a Mom, I like that these new Little People characters reflect modern day kids – in product and on-line. Different personalities. Different races. English and French. Things which set them apart and things which connect them together. Just real life children.

So about that Fisher-Price contest…

I love Fisher Price, really good quality toys that last forever and a day. Thanks too for the hint about the contest, I have of course entered but there again so have thousands of others so I’m not really hopeful, still someone has to win 😉
