Windows Phone and Windows Tiles

January 1, 2013 5 Comments

Sometimes size matters. Like a phone key pad. And icons on your screen. I’m realizing the value of size when it comes to my Windows Phone.

Windows Phone and Windows Tiles
Being able to change the window tiles size (big, medium and small) really helps organize my social networks, calendar, phone and more. I really appreciate being able to so easily move them around (when I go to a media event I put my twitter, Facebook and maps up top but when I take the kids to karate I like to have my phone and kid’s corner in the top prime screen real estate area).

Even my friends (of a certain age where some need reading glasses to see the key pad on their phone) have commented having phone envy when they see the larger screen and key pad of my Nokia Lumina.

I can even blog from the phone! Yep, this post and pictures were both created using the windows phone (I never could have done that in my old phone).

I thought, by participating in the #HolidaySwap I would be missing my old phone features but instead a window of what features I could be using has opened up instead. The windows phone is already making my life easier.

Disclosure: I am part of the #HolidaySwap program and receive certain perks because of this affiliation. The opinions in this post are my own.

Maybe I should switch to WordPress… I’m still trying to figure out how to blog on blogger from my windows phone.

In our last Rogers Innovation Report, we found that 43% Canadians expected to save at least 2 hours by 2017 thanks to mobile internet and faster internet speed. You’re paving the way to that road, blogging directly from your smartphone! Well done!

The tiles are an interesting idea — I don’t know anybody who has a Windows Phone so it was nice to learn something about it.

I was curious to see your views on the phone, Elyse sent me a 1020 to try out and I was impressed in some ways and not in others. The phone was a bit awkward to handle due to the bulged end, however, it’s purpose is for the 41mp camera…catch 22. As far as a windows phone though, I’m an apple fan boy and even though it was at my request to try the windows device, I hope the android performs better as I’m really unsure about this route.

[…] Live tiles – I like how the tiles are always doing something and that it’s super quick to move them around whenever I want. Searching is easier on this phone than on my mom’s iPhone, which is great when I need to get online and find information fast. Caroline Fernandez from Parent Club agrees – Windows tiles rules. […]
