What matters most? A big question when you think about it. I had the opportunity to investigate this question in my latest article for Barbie I Can Be.
In terms of fashion, I want my girls to be comfortable and classic. Typical and age-appropriate. This is not to say they don’t love dressing up (they do!) but in daily, tweenhood, life – jeans are a better fashion choice than high heels. Choice is an important thing to teach girls… and fashion is a good tool for that teaching. I try to guide my tween girls into common sense fashion choices. Will it be warm enough? Are you comfortable in it? Because I want them to be comfortable in their clothes… and in their choices. Learning how to make a choice is a life skill. It builds decision-making abilities, confidence, independence, and a certain amount of common sense.
