Easy and Fun Family Day Ideas
How about one or two of my 65 Indoor Activity Ideas? (Click the link to see the full list – un-blurred). From blanket forts to building a house of cards…there are a ton of ideas perfect for all ages for Family Day fun right there! The nice thing about my 65 Indoor Activity Ideas list is that you bust boredom with things you already have in your house. So no need to go out and buy supplies. Bonus: you can pick and choose from the list to play for an hour, a morning, or the whole day.
Make it a theme day for kids. Theme days can give your day off structure (pirate day could have pirate breakfast, pirate crafts, pirate scavenger hunt, with pirate snack in the afternoon). Plus, it’s also super fun if you are hosting Family Day with other families (pirate party anyone?!). BONUS: it’s fun to rotate stations in the house when you have a theme. It changes the view point and allows you to clean up one area when the kids are playing in another.
DIY Olympics at home using things you already have. The Olympics is a great way to bring activity into your day (either inside or outside). That Olympic link there will take you to my post where I share both indoor and outdoor DIY Olympic ideas (so the weather won’t get in the way of your Olympic fun).
Make-Ahead French Toast Casserole. Always a crowd pleaser! And something you and the kids can make together the night before and then enjoy the next morning (casually in pjs if you like). This make-ahead recipe is a HIT with brunch and pot-lucks too (in case you were brunching or pot-lucking this weekend).
My Family Day plans? I’m hosting a lunch with my extended family, will be setting up stations of play for the little kids, asking the teenagers to turn off their phones, and hopefully when all is cleaned up…finding myself with my family on my couch sharing laughter and good memories.
We will be having a big dinner this year for Family day. I like your idea to have play station set up for the kids. We also ask the teenagers to turn off their phones.
I think we’ve finally settled on an epic 2 day movie day/night binge. We’ve been pushing hard the past several months, and we’re all so over it right now. LOL
I have a ton of family coming over for family day. DIY Olympics at home is a great way to keep the family entertained.
We always have a house full for Family Day. We do it pot luck style so no one has to be in the kitchen all day. I am always looking for new ways to entertain the kids.
