5 Ways to Take Care of Winter Skin

January 30, 2018

Dry skin got you down? These 5 Ways to Take Care of Winter Skin should raise you up. The cold, dry, winter weather is here (to stay for a bit long unfortunately). Thus, take action and take care of your skin. From head to toe here are 5 Ways to Take Care of Winter Skin…

5 Ways to Take Care of Winter Skin

Moisturize. I keep a bottle of Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Sheer Hydration Lotion beside my bed. Before I hit the sheets I rub it into my feet (I hate the look and feel of dry heels – who doesn’t?!), legs, back and shoulders. That way it can deep moisturize my skin as I sleep.

Face care. Use a gentle facial cleanser, like Aveeno Absolutely Ageless moisturizing cleanser, to clean you skin but also moisturize at the same time. Also, and I know you understood this from my above point…moisturize your face.

Drink water. Yes, those teas and hot chocolates and mocha lattes warm you up in the cold winter months but they don’t replace drinking water to hydrate yourself and your skin. If plain cold water gives you the chills in the winter…try warm water with a slice of lemon.

Put on your gloves. Something I say to my teens often. Protect your hands with appropriate gloves/mittens.

Shower smartly. A gentle cleanser like Aveeno daily moisturizing body wash will give you the clean you need without drying out your skin.

ON THE GO TIP

Carry a small bottle of hand lotion with you in your bag and reapply as needed throughout the day.

AND DON’T FORGET THE KIDS

I give my son a mini back massage with lotion to moisturize his skin. He thinks it’s a fun mom & me moment (OK so do I…sometimes I miss those days where you just cuddled your baby…this gives that experience back to you…as long as they sit still).

Disclosure: In partnership with Aveeno. Opinions are my own.

My winter skin is horrible! It is dry and cracked. I will do anything to make it feel better. I will definitely take a lot of this under advice and see what works for me.

Keeping your skin looking healthy and vibrant is important. I’ve been making my own body butters which have been amazing on my skin!

I definitely prefer warmer water in the winter. Cold water chills me to the bone and I get cranky when I’m cold.

What great products! It doesn’t get super cold here but my skin does get a little dry when it gets colder.

These are all great tips. I’d like to add one more … use a humidifier! My humidifier makes a night and day difference in my skin during the winter.
