DIY Lid Organizers

June 1, 2017 20 Comments

This DIY Lid Organizers post was inspired by my overwhelming mess of a cupboard thanks to my collection of re-usable containers and their matching lids. Oh those lids. Took me forever to find the right size and shape for a container. No more! This easy dollar store hack organized all my lids in minutes…you will want to try this…

DIY Lid Organizers

So that bottom left picture? My messy cupboard. And I don’t know about you…but a messy cupboard frustrates me to no end. When I’m cleaning up dinner (and supervising homework at the kitchen table in the dinner -> homework transition) the last thing I want to do is search for a matching container and lid.

This one dollar store hack make my life so much easier.

Magazine File Folders.

These file folders are available at dollar stores (and office supply stores). They put together in seconds (no tools required). And note: I’m terrible at putting things together. I can’t IKEA to save my life. But I can fold magazine file folders into shape – so you can too.

Once the magazine file folders are ready, insert your lids vertically. I organized my lids by shape (which automatically also arranged them by colour as well). All the circle and rectangle lids are together (and happen all to be blue). My square containers are separate in their own folder (red).

Low cost yet enormously effective in lid organization!

And if you like DIY’s which are budget friendly yet super cool – I recommend my NO SEW DIY T-SHIRT INFINITY SCARF project. It’s no sew and serious awesomeness. And truly, I wear this infinity scarf a lot (you can often find it in my bag – as it’s light – so I can pop it on if I’m chilly at my son’s soccer game). Bonus: It upcycles a t-shirt you already have…so this infinity scarf is FREE to make.

No contest I’m afraid Caroline. Right now I have tupperware bases without lids and lids without bases and it freaks me out. I’m going to go for the lid organizer. Such a great idea

I love being organized, but the plastic lids always get the best of me. I think I am doing a good job, and then I find that I have too many lids, but the containers I have, have no lids! Where do they come from???? I love your idea of using the file organizers to organize my lids!

What a great idea…and good timing. I just had to sift through a stack of lids that fell out of the cupboard this morning.

What a good idea! I currently put my lids into a few of my plastic food storage containers – which works.. But then I cant use the container if needed elsewhere. And then I have their extra lids kicking around with no good use lol! A cardboard holder would free up those containers – thanks!
