5 Tips for Spring Cleaning (warning…tip #2 includes kids helping with Spring cleaning…you got this). Daily and weekly cleaning is a part of life but that deep Spring cleaning will make your home feel fresher and cleaner.
5 Tips for Spring Cleaning
#1. Set aside a day for Spring cleaning. Yes, weekends are full of sports and social activities and errands. Which is exactly why you need to set aside a day for Spring cleaning (otherwise it will never get done!). In my house we call it le grand ménage (French translation: the big work).
#2. Spring cleaning is a whole family activity. My school-aged son’s job is to look through his toys and take out things he would like to give away. My teens have to go through their closets and take out what doesn’t fit and bag it for donation. My husband sorts through the shed and takes out the toys/gear/stuff which need to move on to recycling or donation (or garbage). I bounce between everyone cheer-leading, supervising, and sorting. THEN, we all spend an hour doing le grand ménage of deep cleaning. How do you get kids to help clean bathrooms and sinks and floors…two words…BLAST MUSIC.
#3. Cleaner’s gotta clean. You have to use cleaners which cleans and deodorizes. Pine-Sol has a new scent Spring Blossom which is fresh but not overpowering. Spring Blossom is comprised of a combination of jasmine, magnolia and orange blossom (I happen to love orange as a scent). Pine-Sol Multi-Surface Cleaner keeps your whole home clean from kitchen to bathroom by cutting through grease, grime, and dirt. #YesItsPineSol
#4. Open your windows on a sunny day. Fresh air not only freshens your space…but really makes you feel like Spring has arrived.
#5. Recycle, donate, or garbage. Once we’ve done le grand ménage we have one job left…put the “stuff” out. We empty the garbage bins. Put our inside recycling contents into the BIG recycling container outside. And put our donation items into the back of the minivan for delivery to our neighbourhood drop-off centre.
Spring cleaning is so much easier when the whole family does it together. And yes, blasting music to sing/dance/jump to is a big help to making it a fun family activity. Personally, I recommend a Bruno Mars playlist 🙂

I love spring cleaning. I always start with de-cluttering the house. Donate, garbage, re-gift. I don’t like a lot of stuff. Never have. Weighs me down. I have to love it or it has to be useful. And yes, I still have things my kids (now in their 30s) made for me when they were 3. 🙂 Happy spring cleaning. Going to check out that new Pine-Sol, sounds lovely.
I love using Pine-Sol! I use it for my floors and now my new wood table!
