These 5 Ways To Be Your Healthiest are a work in progress but shouldn’t that always be the case…your good health is a work in progress! Work it. Do it. Make it happen. I don’t think of this as a new year goal or a January trend but as a lifestyle choice. Let’ work on 5 ways to be your healthiest. Let’s make them attainable.
Note: there will NOT be any weight loss/fad diet/boot camp tips here. Because I think you are awesome just as you are! And you are awesome. Let’s make you awesome healthy too.
Be your healthiest you with Jamieson Essentials
- Half of Canadians find it difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle yet 73 per cent wish they were healthier
Make your health your priority. I am the first one to say “I don’t have time” but someone take me for tea and tell me to make the time. Please! Because health should be a priority. Book your physical. Visit the dentist. Get your eyes checked. Call a friend and catch up (yes, mental health includes connecting with your social network). Figure out your health base line as your starting point to be the healthiest you.
Decide on your end goal. For me…my end goal of being healthy is…to be active with my family. You might know I have IBS which challenges me in being the healthiest version of myself. But beyond “managing” my health – I am actively trying to improve it. Eating healthy food choices. Visiting a dietitian. Taking a line of vitamins curated for you by experts. I love Jamieson Essentials, consisting of probiotics, vitamin D, omega-3, and a multivitamin, so I receive 100% of the recommended dietary allowance for adults, as recommended by Health Canada. I am doing all this so that I can get out and play with my family.
Be open to health and lifestyle changes. Those probiotics?…just pick them up at the grocery store. While you are there make better food choices about what goes in your cart. Put the chips back. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park further away so you walk more.
Make being healthy a group activity. Take the kids sledding (boredom buster and active movement). Go for a walk with your spouse (think of it as date time). Join a class (OK – I admit…this one is my biggest challenge…I really want to take a yoga class but I keep putting it off – this loops back to the make time for you health thing above doesn’t it?!).
Be positive about being healthy. This might be the easiest AND the hardest tip of these 5 Ways To Be Your Healthiest. It’s easy to be positive (just think positive right?!) but we are so used to giving up before we even try.
Here are some strategies for being positive:
- smile more
- small changes
- remember your purpose (your end goal!)
- encourage yourself (and others – including your family)
- stick with it
