I’m about to share The Secret To Making Boxed Cake Mix Better. This easy cake recipe creates a moist, dense, and delicious cake – worthy of birthday parties, pot lucks, or *insert celebration* here. Follow these steps to The Secret To Making Boxed Cake Mix Better – you’ll want to keep this cake recipe!

The Secret To Making Boxed Cake Mix Better

Ok, with every new thing there is a hiccup (no hiccups to this cake recipe – promise – it’s tried and true!). My hiccup is in my Youtube video (below). I’m starting to build the Parent Club Youtube channel (yes, go and subscribe!). However, my hiccup is this: in the video I say to bake it in a 350C oven. My bad. In North America we use Fahrenheit and it should read 350F oven. So use 350F.

Unless you live in Europe – then you’ll want 176C. Anywho….recipe below video…completely print-worthy.

And so that cake recipe…

Though I try to bake from scratch as much as possible – some times I just have to make my life easier and use a boxed cake mix. I find when I add instant pudding it makes the cake SO MUCH BETTER. And yes, match the cake mix flavour to the instant pudding (i.e. chocolate and chocolate or vanilla and vanilla).

My son has a Christmas birthday – and I’m always “baked out” by the time to bake his birthday cake (from cookies to brownies to butter tarts – everything at Christmas is from scratch here). So, this year I gave myself permission to use The Secret To Making Boxed Cake Mix Better…and know what…everyone LOVED it.

And if you love chocolate you should try my Best Brownie Recipe Ever…

I have never thought about putting pudding in a cake before. I guess I should have guessed because a lot of boxed cakes do have pudding in them.

I’ve used instant pudding mix before but I also use boxed cake mix itself as a substitution in various recipes. Some of my favorite cookies are made with boxed cake mix.

I agree about adding the pudding, it makes a moister cake no doubt. And if u don’t have time or haven’t baked from scratch in awhile, there is nothing wrong with box mixes. Some are better than other, but it’s a good incentive to bake.

I’ve been making a lemon poppyseed cake this way for years and when my son was in kindergarten he was selling my cupcakes (unknown to me) for a penny. After he had saved enough to go and play some video games he told me how smart he was… and why he had wanted them EVERY day. LOL.
