Could you use some Savvy Saver Tips? Who can’t?! Whether you are just starting out (and living at Moms and Dads) or in the thick of it (with mortgage, dependents, big expenses) or in the home stretch (I can’t wait for retirement and travel!). Savvy Saver Tips will help you achieve your goals…responsibly.
With Financial Planning Week underway (November 16-20), TD has launched its online Savvy Saver Quiz this week on Metro’s websites across Canada. By answering a few simple multiple choice questions, you can determine what stage you’re at financially, and what considerations you should be making at this point in your life.
I took the Savvy Saver Quiz myself (it only takes minutes) and my results showed I’m saving well…but reminded me to keep the good saving habits we’ve got going. For me it means…keeping an eye on budget, saving for retirement, putting away money for post-secondary tuition for my kids. We live a fairly frugal lifestyle; meaning we eat dinner at home more than we go out – but then we treat ourselves to movies and outings once in a while.
Savvy Saver Tips
- Pay down that debt. Pay off your student loans and any credit card debt as soon as you can.
- Create a budget. Making a budget can really help you to manage your money and become a better saver.
- Top up those investments. Increase your contributions to these funds each year, taking into account yearly inflation and changes to your salary.
- Review your plan regularly. Revisit your financial plan with your financial planner to make sure you’re staying on track to meet all of your goals and retire comfortably.
- Maintain good habits. This may require that you continue to implement and maintain sensible spending habits.
Thanks for posting these are really good tips !
