Things To Do With Kids in Kleinburg

October 28, 2015 1 Comment

Beyond experiencing life in a picturesque village in Ontario there are so many Things To Do With Kids in Kleinburg. Just a 45 minute drive from Toronto this unique corner of Ontario is a must-visit…

Things To Do With Kids in Kleinburg

McMichael Gallery. Not just another art gallery kids! The McMichael Gallery houses a collection of nearly 6,000 pieces of art created by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, and other artists. And don’t think this is an inside-only family activity — there is a network of outdoor paths, hiking trails, and sculpture garden for your family to explore. They also have specialized children’s art programs for hands-on family art experience running year round.

TIP: Keep kids engaged at an art gallery or museum by adding in spontaneous games like Eye Spy. Give it a try:“Eye spy something green in this room”  – it’s a simple game which keeps little kids busy, involved, and active.

Play. What is your kind of play? A yoga class or gym workout in the morning? A visit to an indoor playground or local cafe in the afternoon? Settling into a theatre seat to watch a movie in the evening? There are all sorts of “play” destinations and attractions in and around Kleinburg for you and your family.

TIP: Incorporating play time into your daily routine is a great stress-buster for all.

Local parks are a great place to visit and enjoy family together time – like at Binder Twine Park or the famous Kortright Centre. Dress according to weather and ensure you bring along the proper supplies for a family trip to the park (water and snacks are always a good idea). A family visit to a park is not only a fun physical activity – it’s also an opportunity to learn about the environment and eco-system around you.

TIP: Make an art project from Things Found in your local park.  Leaves, twigs, sand, and even small rocks can be recycled into a things found art collage. It makes for a unique souvenir of your time out together.

Dining in Kleinburg. To make a restaurant experience relaxing for all…choose your restaurant according to the requirements of your family. For example: enjoy casual family meals (or a baked treat) at Cookie Crumble Café/Eatery – or –  enjoy the inviting cuisine of Villaggio Ristorante. If you require food-on-the-go you can always pop into your favourite big name coffee shop or restaurant chain.

TIP: To keep kids busy while they wait for their meals – give them a pencil or pen and paper and play Waiter – encourage the kids take your pretend food orders!

Shopping. New and seasoned fashionistas alike can enjoy a family shopping outing. Just head down Islington Avenue in Kleinburg and explore the local shops. You can also visit bigger shopping malls in the area.

TIP: Always treat store staff with respect and courtesy…kids learn how to act by watching what you do.

Kleinburg festivals. Mark your family calendars for the fun and fantastical festivals in Kleinburg. The Binder Twin Festival in the fall. Holiday Tree lighting in winter. Canada day celebrations in summer. Festivals in a community are always spectacular for family events. Disconnect from your devices and connect with your friends, family, and neighbours.

TIP: Carpool or walk to festivals. It helps with parking challenges.

Disclosure: #spon As always the opinions in this post are my own.

Thanks for these tips. Should we ever attend a festival I will know how to handle it with kids.
