New season…new sizes. Anyone else putting jeans on their kids and noticing the jeans are about an inch and a half too short?! Time to restock the closet with kids clothing! I am a big supporter of consignment shops because A) I love a great deal B) kids go through their stuff so quickly! Which is why I’m pleased to share with you a NEW shop in Canada: Kid to Kid Mississauga. (TEASER: Giveaway below will help one lucky Parent Club reader experience shopping at Kid to Kid Mississauga themselves)…
Kids Consignment Shopping Tips…
Shop in season. If I need an extra winter jacket – I buy it the season I need it at a kids consignment store. Why? Because you can’t guesstimate what size your child will be this time next year (proof: my son is up 4 shoe sizes since Spring). If you buy the size you need now…you know you will use it.
Get a deal on strollers, high chairs, toys, and more! Big ticket baby gear items are much more manageable on a family budget when you shop kids consignment. My advice is to do some research and have some idea of what you are looking for (i.e. jogger vs 4 wheeler, traditional high chair vs high chair booster). Then, go into the store. Check working order (buckles work, how it folds, scratches, etc).
Seasonal shopping is great at kids consignment shops. Fall jackets. Weather appropriate toys. Rain boots. All in stock at consignment shops this season. But…I suggest you also forecast your holiday needs…Halloween is coming…do you know where you are getting your kids’ Halloween costumes?! Just look at the great choice at Kid to Kid Mississauga ->

Wow! They have everything that I knew were expecting parent could ever need or want. What a great place that is.
I have got many things for my son there. I love getting halloween outfits there, he can pick what he wants and I don’t have to pay a mint!
I can spend HOURS in consignment shops, especially when I’m shopping for kids things. Looks like a gold-mine there!
This looks like a great place to shop. Kids grow out of things so quickly, its nice to have a place to get great items at a great price.
Consignment shops are a great place to shop in season! Winter coats last only so long and it’s so hard to guesstimate what size the kiddos will be next season!
Story of my life, both of my kids had major growth spurts this summer. I’ve had to get them new everything.
Kids grow so fast it’s crazy. I try to save wherever I can and I limit how many pieces of clothing they can have each year. It helps.
Thanks for letting us know about this great store. I would do a lot of shopping in there, however, I live too far away. I love that the items they sell are like new and it would help parents save a lot of money. Kids can grow faster than bean sprouts.
I haven’t tried shopping at a Consignment shop. I love that you can save a lot here. I will check this out.
I would buy clothes for my girls.
I am all about saving money whenever I can and I love consignment shops! I can’t wait to have kids one day and get to shop for them!
I love kid-to-kid! I haven’t been in so long, I need to head back over and see what I can find I love these type of shops!
I bought some of my son’s shorts and pants from a consignment shop and they all looked brand-new to be honest. I will check this store out and see what I can find for him.
would buy jeans for the boy
These kind of stores are so great for kids. They grow so fast, their clothes barely get any use out of them.
I miss shopping for smal kids outfits. My kids are growing up dast and I am slowlyy losing my say on what they should wear wahhh.
Clothes… they always always need clothes!
I always checked the second hand stores for all the stuff i needed for my kids. I always found amazing deals on hardly used items.
This sounds like a great place to buy all of the things you need for your kids. I love consignment stores.
Gently used is always a great way to go! Wish there was one of these near me.
I love Kid to Kid. I need to pick up my son some new clothes for winter. I’ll have to check kid to kid first.
I would buy some boys sweaters and hoodies!
We’d buy the kids a couple of their winter jackets hopefully!
We get a ton of our stuff from consignment. It’s the best place to score children’s gear.
I love second hand stores! I’d get jeans for both my boys
This sounds like a really great store, thank you for the awesome giveaway. Good luck everyone!
I would get some warm pants for my daughter as winter is coming.
I would love to find some winter gear for my son.
I would pick up some snow pants.
Winter and Halloween things!
I would buy clothes for my son!
Think about it this way too – someone went to all these different brand name stores, spent a lot of time to get there and shop there, plus they spent quite a bit of money for gas and now you can come here and have all this shopping done for you – this is when time costs lots of money – but this times lots of savings for you. I love getting a good deal – it is not very difficult to go to regular kids’ store and buy something for as much as they ask for a particular item – it is more challenging to spend less, get what you need/want for the fraction of the cost and know that your kids look great in what you have bought for them. That is what I call the deal and the level of satisfaction is amazing. After getting such great deals in consignment or second-hand stores you think about regular kids’ stores prices as extortion, they want for everything way, way too much. And to be honest with you I can’t afford these prices as a mother of three, I simply don’t have this money to spend there. I have visited different stores of this type and Once Upon A Child and Kid to Kid would be definitely my favourite. I would even say it is worth to drive from Brampton there considering that I have to shop somewhere and get there somehow I may as well get here from time to time to get what I need in one place from shoes and clothing to baby gear, toys and books. I have been there just twice so far but I would come back soon as it is really worth it. Maybe some things can be organized better though since you can be looking for things more effectively and you wouldn’t have to bother the staff. But maybe this is just a matter of time. I guess the amount of different things can be overwhelming not only for the shopper but as well for the staff. Thank you anyway for such a great opportunity for us busy parents who want to dress their kids on the budget to shop there.
We’d look for some winter clothes for our 2. 5 year old
I’m always on the look out for specialty hats and coats (like ponchos). Unique pieces that will finish an outfit.
