So Good For Heart Health

June 25, 2015 28 Comments

I am very open to adding new, healthy, food and drink choices to our family menu. Our lives are so busy – every healthy food option helps fuel our schedule. Recently, I picked up So Good Soy Beverage at the grocery store and I realized – it is So Good For Heart Health…

So Good

So Good For Heart Health

I was inspired by the Soy Chocolate Cinnamon Smoothie Recipe (which looks so good!) on the So Good website. I’ve started making smoothies in the mornings for my kids as a quick grab n’ go breakfast. Plus, my oldest now has braces and youngest doesn’t really love breakfast – so a smoothie is a great way for them to drink their vitamins and minerals as a healthy start to the day.

Imagine my surprise when my 2nd daughter simply grabbed the So Good chocolate box out of the fridge and poured it for her and her brother for breakfast (trying something new – on their own?! – this is unheard of!). I didn’t need to coach, prompt or cajole them into trying this dairy-free beverage. Morning win!

Drinking So Good myself (as I type this post) – I can tell you – the taste is great. It tastes like regular ol’ chocolate milk to me. Yummy! I always thought a soy drink would taste…well…soy-ish. Not the case. I don’t notice a difference (and seeing as my kids drank it down without a remark…they didn’t notice the taste difference either).

And aside: Can you imagine a cafe mocha or mochaccino; using So Good chocolate? Diary free readers – bookmark that idea!

So Good soy beverage is fortified with 15 essential nutrients including calcium to build strong bones and teeth, and vitamins D2 and B12 – providing a refreshing and nutritious option for Canadian consumers.

Studies show health benefits of soy
One of the best reasons to enjoy soy is because it is good for your heart health. A recent study published in the Journal Metabolism found that adding even modest amounts of soy foods to a healthy diet reduces the risk of heart disease.

I really like having healthy food and drink options which contribute to heart health (and overall health) for my family. And the fact that my kids liked the chocolate flavour of So Good…all the better.

I haven’t ever tried this before! Usually if my family sees me drinking and enjoying, they want to try too. If I don’t like something I can’t voice it or show it otherwise they wouldn’t try!

I have not heard of this brand. I usually drink almon milk but would like to give this a try. I can see how someone who did not like breakfast would enjoy a smoothy.

This soy milk sounds so delicious and so healthy for you. I didn’t know that soy products help with heart health. I am for sure going to have to try this soy milk which I love the taste of soy milk so it is a plus. Thanks for sharing.

I have been kinda skeptical about trying soy, almond, or other type of milk alternatives. I guess I would need to try a sample before committing to buying a half gallon.

It can be hard to get my Daughter to try new foods. She is a picky eater. I find she is more open to trying new things if she has a friend with her.

This doesn’t look half bad! I’m more of an almond milk person, but anything people drink to get away from cow milk is fine by me. So Good is a popular brand and I can see why people love it!

I am not familiar with this brand. I have never tried soy milk before, and only recently ventured into almond milk land. I am curious to see how it tastes – chocolate would be my first choice.

I used to drink the soya milk till I got breast cancer. It turns out It was caused by hormones and the list they gave me on what not to eat was soya flax and many other foods that have hormones. They also told me every woman will have breast cancer by the time they are in their 80’s. Scary. I found mine 5 months after a mamo. Please take car and try to watch out for hormones.
