Whether you are buying a new mattress to accommodate your kids growth or buying a new mattress for your college/university bound kid or buying a new mattress for yourself…I’ve discovered a few Tips To Make Mattress Shopping Easier (teaser: you will want to remember the next two words: Endy Sleep)…
A few tips to make mattress shopping easier…
- Size matters. We needed to buy a new mattress for my daughter’s room. A double might have worked but it would have left little room for her desk. So we knew…she needed a twin. When looking for a new mattress measure to ensure your needs (twin, double, queen, or king). Consider the existing furniture in the room too.
- Quality matters. Think: someone is going to spend years sleeping on this mattress so it needs to be quality. Research what the mattress is made of (i.e. is it a foam or coil mattress?). Does it offer support? What is the mattress thickness? Where is it made? Aside: I kinda love that Endy Sleep is Canadian-made – buy local my friends!
- Warranty matters. Mattresses are important so you will want to see the manufacturer stand behind their product. A ten year warranty is preferred.
- Ease of shopping matters. For my daughters’ mattresses (I ended up buying one for each girl) I had the opposite of ease of shopping experience. I spent hours doing online research. Price comparisons. Went to the store. Located the mattresses. Schlepped mattresses and kids (kids who did not want to be mattress shopping) to the cashier. Loaded mattresses into minivan (which took some organization and re-organization). Drove home. Unloaded kids and mattresses (note – I unloaded kids first). Let’s just say…it wasn’t an easy process. If you can order online and have it delivered to your door for free…I say…DO IT.

investing in nice pillows and a nice mattress has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.
We spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping. A few years ago I invested in a high-quality mattress and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I no longer wake up with soreness or an achy back.
It’s also important to note if the mattress is bed bugs-free. Quality and size are the factors when we buy a mattress.
Size and quality indeed matters.. this is something to be used for long term so those things are so important for me.
Really great tips! We just got everyone new mattresses not long ago and it was as harder than one may think! I look for comfort, quality and price. All has to be just perfect!
Great tips. We bought a memory foam mattress and just love it. I’ll never buy a conventional one again.
Mattress shopping…blech. It’s exciting in a way, but a chore too. Especially for the kids beds
I am looking to replace my mattress. These are great tips i will have to use when i am picking one out.
Picking a mattress is not easy to do. It can be hard to please both people that will be sleeping in it. I will have to remember these tips for when we replace ours.
I’ve never considered the warranty on a mattress. That is smart thinking though to get one that has it.
This reminds me that in a couple years we’ll be due to get another mattress! I appreciate these tips – thanks!
I actually want to go mattress shopping sometime soon. I need a new one badly!
I love your idea of shopping for quality. My last mattress was pretty inexpensive, so I can’t wait to replace it.
These are really great tips! It’s really important to find the right mattress isn’t it? =)
Quality and size are really the most important things we considered when hubby and I recently shopped for mattress.
I need a new mattress badly!! Great tips on mattress shopping, i have never bought a mattress by myself before!
I definitely agree that quality matters when buying a mattress. It is not an area I’m willing to scrimp on.
I learned the hard way you should never skimp on the quality of your mattress. You will have back problems and lots of sleepless nights!
A good quality mattress is something everyone needs to have, it really makes a difference on your sleep! I would love to get a new one, mine is quite old.
Thabks for this awesome tips, we are planning to buy a new mattress soon and I would keep this in mind.
These are fabulous tips… that I could have used 4 years ago when my husband and I bought the mattress of terror. LOL. Worst mattress ever. Thankfully we learned out lesson and bought another one recently.
Thanks for the tips, I actually have to get one soon so this will come in handy.
Thank you for the tips. Honestly, we really need a new mattress. The husband and I had been talking about it lately actually.
I’ve got a friend who has a memory foam mattress and loves it. We want one but haven’t found room in the budget yet.
These are great tips. I will be shopping for one soon for my oldest son’s bedroom.
Thanks for the tips. I really need a new mattress and I’ll keep this in mind when shopping.
Quality definitely matters! Remember, you sleep 8hrs a day out of 24. You will spend a third of your life on a mattress. 1500$ is not that bad when you think about it.
