Seriously, this is a true visual of my day. Here you are kids – the final answer to your eternal question… Mom What Did You Do Today? Visual Diagram Answer…
We Moms…we are always doing something…constant motion. Even if we are sitting down…I promise our head’s are spinning.
I’m pretty sure I spend equal paid work Vs meal prep Vs laundry time. Because meal planning isn’t just meal planning but lunch box finding (and making and cleaning) and after-school snack moderation (no, you can’t have ice cream AND cookies) and actual meal prep (including planning, prep, cooking, serving, and cleaning).
And laundry time isn’t just laundry time but finding coats (and helping to put on shoes), its picking up sweaters from the couch, it’s laundry logistics (are there enough clean socks and underwear until tomorrow or do I need to do a wash?!).
And networking is not just business related (but it is too). It’s keeping in contact with my friends via text (because no one has the time to talk on the phone anymore). It’s hopping on to twitter (tweet me: @ParentClub) to catch up on the news of the day (because turning on the TV just sucks you into the black hole of daytime television). It’s instagram and pinterest to inspire because you are plain out of ideas.
Bet you are dying to fill that itsy-bitsy Me Time spot right? Why not try this Banana Bread Recipe or read How To Wear An Infinity Scarf (because ME TIME is never unproductive time is it?!).
I just had to laugh on seeing the visualisation of your day. I well remember those days – the kids thought I had nothing to do all day – they never wondered how food got onto the table, clothes in their cupboards, the gardening got done, snow shovelled etc etc etc. Their father was pretty much the same – he reckoned I didn’t work because I didn’t get a wage!
Today was a slow day so I will tell you what I did yesterday. It was Mother’s Day. Started by running in the Sporting Life 10K supporting Camp Ooch. Then I came home and went to the park with my boys and hubby. Then went out for pizza. Then planted a few plants in my garden with my 5 year old son. Then loaded and unloaded the dishwasher. Then gave my boys a bath and put them to bed.
Just like cleaning… no one notices what you do until you stop doing it 😉
So true!
Gardening, it’s good for the mind and soul.
My kids 27/34 tell me now they dont know how I done it all
