6 Toddler Music Ideas
A pot and a wooden spoon. Classic. Tap the inside of the pot and listen to the sound. Turn it over and tap the bottom of the pan – does it sound the same or different?
A cardboard canister with a metal top. Try tapping it with a spoon. Then tap it with your palm. Which is loud and which is quiet?
A cardboard box. Go to town tapping it with your hands. Boom. Boom. Boom. Count as you go.
A wooden spoon and a toy hammer. Safe tools for little kid drumming. Also an interesting musical instrument just tapping them together.
Two milk jugs. Hold a handle in each of your hands and tap the jugs together. Start. Now Stop.
A metal container. Tap it with a wooden spoon and listen to the sound.
Confession: I came up with these Toddler Music Ideas while making dinner. I needed something to keep my little one busy while I chopped and cooked. These homemade musical instruments cost nothing and were easy to take out and put away. Yes, a bit noisy…but truly super fun to a child.
