Clairol Shift A Shade Makeover

November 7, 2014

I’ve been waiting to share my Clairol Shift A Shade Makeover experience with you. It was a small shift but has made a HUGE impact. Teaser: easy tips on hair, makeup and style which will freshen your look…

You may remember that I shared the reasoning behind my participation in the Shift A Shade makeover here: 5 Reasons To Put Your Best Self Forward. In short, I was ready for a change.

HAIR:

Naturally, I am what the French call cheveux chatain clair—a dark blonde hair colour. Luis (from Hair on the Avenue) really thought I should shift to red. RED! I took a leap of faith and agreed.

MAKEUP:

Easy yet awesome. The copper tone eye-shadow was something I never would have thought I could wear, yet it looked pretty great. It inspired me to add some COVERGIRL copper eye shadow to my make-up bag.

STYLE:

Black is my comfort zone—what can I say?! I didn’t think the stylist could do it, but she slightly shifted my black obsession toward this fantastic black and white print top, which I LOVED. I admit: I secretly wanted to take it home with me.

THE HAIR REVEAL:

Before was ok. A little grey at the roots. A bit flyaway (from my no-time-for-styling life). Before is good enough n’est pas?…

Clairol Shift A Shade Before @ParentClub

After was WOW. People at the salon were asking if I had a hair cut. Nope – it’s just the fantastic Clairol colour. Shine has replaced the grey. The Clairol colour specialist mixed two boxes (and yes used two boxes equally mixed half and half) to get my custom colour: 8G/108 natural medium golden blonde with 8WR/108 natural reddish blonde.

Clairol Shift A Shade After @ParentClub

I love my new hair. My new look. My smile is bigger. It makes me stand up straighter. Gives me confidence. It was the shift I needed (not too drastic yet a fresher look for the season).  And bonus: I went to a media event and someone said “I love your hair colour!”—Win!

The color suits you amazingly. A little change sometimes makes a big difference. I’m never brave enough to change my hair or color drastically, but this kind of highlight is just worth a try.
