Finding Me Time is a challenge for all Moms (work outside the home, work at home, stay at home – whatever!). Here are 10 Tips to help in Finding Me Time (and I will be completely transparent try as I may I just have not been able to do #10 yet!)…
Finding Me Time
Listening to music can change your day. It can calm you down or make you feel more energetic.
I often stretch at the park while my kids play. Yes, I’m that Mom doing arm stretches and core twists at the bottom of the slide.
While I started writing my book, I declared Thursday nights MY nights. My husband was in charge of childcare and I had the night off to write.
My every night Me Time is my hot shower followed by some lotion to my shoulders (’cause I carry all my stress in my shoulders).
Yes, I text certain friends almost every day. It’s an easy way to stay in touch, send out a life line, share a giggle.
Read a book. That says it all.
Give yourself permission to hire a sitter – that’s a tough one but so needed. It’s hard to justify a sitter’s pay if you only want to get your hair done, go to the doctor’s office, run an errand – you could certainly do those with kids. But sometimes…it saves your sanity by going it alone.
Walk instead of drive (I love that). Taking my son to pre-school – I could have driven everyday. But that walk home was so peaceful.
I wait minutes upon minutes at the orthodontist office every month – why not indulge in my favourite magazine?!
Oh that dreaded #10. I’ve heard so many Moms do it. And so many of them cheer-lead how good it is. I have thought about it…planned for it…tried…however, I just cannot get up an hour before my kids for me time. However, I have heard how great that hour-by-yourself is for getting organized, writing, working out, meditating…or spending me time whatever way works for you.
I’m the crazy lady that gets up 1.5 hours before my kids….yes I’m getting my husband out the door the 1st 1/2 hour but then I spend an hour having a shower and watching a few minutes of the news before the craziness begins.
