More Boredom Busters
Over 50 fun and easy activities that you will love to do all year round!
Be bored no more! You’ll love all the fun things to do and make in “More Boredom Busters.” There’s a chapter of activities for each season of the year, and within those, you’ll also find ideas for your favorite holidays, such as Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day. Get set to enjoy awesome activities, from Permanent Marker Mugs—add your own designs to a mug for yourself or as a gift—to Woven Magazine Mats that use up old magazines, helping you to recycle at the same time as crafting. The summer Fruit Kebobs are delicious, while the Halloween Party Food, including banana ghosts and clementine “pumpkins,” not only looks great for parties, but tastes delicious, too. Getting messy with paint is always fun, so why not create some Snowman Handprint pictures? You can even tie-dye T-shirts using food coloring, to make yourself a brightly-patterned new outfit. Every activity has easy instructions and uses simple materials found around the home or classroom, so you can get started straight away!
50+ activities to entertain kids at home, in the classroom and even on holiday!
Let’s get crafty! You will never be bored again with the brilliant things to make and do in Boredom Busters. The book is divided into five themed chapters: Art, Craft, Science, Food and Travel. Art Activities shows you how to create pretty pictures using homemade paint, recycled crayons and even coffee filter paper and shaving cream! In Craft Activities, reuse milk cartons for your own bowling game, turn a baby food jar into a snow globe and make cinnamon clay decorations. You will love the cool experiments in the Science section – from growing your own crystals to setting off plastic bottle tornados and creating ‘lava’ in a cup. Cook up a storm with the great recipes in Food Activities: cool ice cream cone cupcakes, delicious chocolate mug cake and colourful pizza faces. Finally, discover ways to keep yourself busy on journeys and holidays in Travel Activities, such as making a T-shirt pillow, wooden spoon puppets and a homemade travel journal.
My Blog To Book Story
So my blog to book experience – I have been blogging since 2007 (and love blogging still) but I kept going into bookstores thinking “why don’t I have just one book on these shelves?!” I realized I was never going to get the magic “hey, let’s turn your blog into a book” email from a publisher…so I took the bull by the horns. I wrote my first manuscript while I was pregnant. I pitched it while the newborn baby napped. It took months and months of hard work. But I got a publishing deal (no agent – queries and manuscripts and contracts were all self-taught thanks to Google).
