Fisher-Price Little People

August 29, 2013 4 Comments

I grew up with the Fisher-Price Little People. They were friends before I had in-real-life friends. These are the Fisher-Price Little People which I grew up with…

Fisher-Price Little People

They came with my Fisher-Price Hospital set (now considered a “vintage” toy).  The Fisher-Price Little People girls had plastic hair while the boys had painted on ‘dos. And culturally diversified?…well, the toys reflected the times.

Todays, modern & NEW, Fisher-Price Little People look much, much different…

Fisher-Price Little People New

Let’s try something…scroll up to those vintage Fisher-Price Little People and then scroll back down. What do you think? Size wise they are about the same but everything else is so much changed (modernized, compelling, entertaining).

Little People friends are a lot like real kids, each of them unique and special, with personalities and quirks, much like your toddler or preschooler. Whether your child has the outgoing energy of an Eddie or the thoughtful spirit of a Mia, getting to know these friends will help them learn about themselves and others. And as your child grows and develops, new layers of play unfold—with ever-growing opportunities to explore, learn, and discover new things.

Of the  Fisher-Price Little People friends – my son is most like Eddie…

Fisher-Price Little People

“lots of energy” and “go-go-go!” perfectly describes my busy toddler. I appreciate that Fisher-Price understands that no two kids are alike and as such offer a group of characters with different skill sets to help our kids discover and imagine. Being a bilingual, bicultural family – I also really appreciate the diversity of the friends.

My vintage Fisher-Price Little People were fine for a child of the (ahem) 70s. But my digital children are more attracted to characters with definition, uniqueness, friendliness and fun – much like the Fisher-Price Little People. Happy character faces, outreached arms welcoming adventure, colourful and content.

I still have those vintage characters in storage…however the new characters?…there are in the diaper bag for play…because my son is go-go-go to discover new ways to play…and these characters will fit in quite nicely.

Disclosure: I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with the Fisher-Price Play Ambassador program with mom Central Canada. The opinions in this blog are my own.

I had a great flashback moment when I saw the pic of your Little People as I had the same ones! The modern ones are great but there is something classic about the old ones.

Fisher Price little people are one of those timeless toys, and I love the new look.

Oh I do like Fisher Price, such super quality and they last so long, incredible. The Fisher Price toys my children had outlasted them (all 7) and could then be passed on to the next family in pretty good condition.
