Trunki Carry-on Luggage For Kids

July 11, 2013 16 Comments

A Trunki is a wheeled, carry-on, luggage available in Canada via Melissa & Doug. Not only does it carry your stuff – it doubles as a ride on/push-along to entertain your child as they travel. The moment my toddler set eyes on the blue ‘Terrance’ Trunki he was hands-on…and I knew instantly, that this was going to make our summer travel easier.Trunki

Made in the U.S.A., the Trunki stood up to full-on kid trial (max weight 75 lbs/34 kg and for ages 3-6).  It comes with a dual purpose pull/carry strap to either pull your child through the train terminal for a bit of fun or carry it while you are going through security. My big kids had a blast pulling their little brother around on the Trunki (so not only is it an activity for the rider – it entertains the whole family!).

The space inside is substantial. Pack toys, clothes, and more with ease. This one innovative suitcase is perfect for family travel. And it is carry-on luggage approved so you can store it in the overhead compartments of your plane or train (it would easily fit under the feet of someone in a car seat too!).

My son easily saddled the Trunki, held on to the horn grips and could push the integrated wheels to ride all-by-himself.  Imagine waiting for your plane to board and having the Trunki on hand to help pass the time as a travel ride-on. Seriously smart!

The Trunki has integrated secure locks so that you can keep your items safe while keeping the ride safe too. Worried about keeping track of another set of luggage keys while you travel?…Trunki

The key is part of the strap itself! Practical. My son loved trying to get the key in the lock (he never succeeded but it certainly kept his attention).

This ride-on/pull-along children’s suitcase is a total hit. It entertains, carries stuff, and is compact for any sort of travel.

The travel destination is all sorts of fun but keeping kids busy while you get there can be a challenge. The Trunki is certainly a new favourite to make family travel easier!

I tried to find a weight limit on their site but couldn’t. We’re travelling to BC this summer (the first time on a plane for the girls) and thought this might be a perfect option for them. They are 3 & 7 – I know my 7 year old would LOVE this!

I included the weight limit in the post above – your 7 year old might be too big put she could certainly have fun pulling her lil sister on it.

How cute! I really love the fact it IS airport approved.. I know many people who have young ones (under 6) who go with them at least twice a year on trips – this would be perfect for their travels 🙂

    Thank you for sharing!

You can order them directly from the Melissa & Doug site. Or find them in stores.
