I am in research mode for what to do with kids during March Break. My search keywords thus far are: Toronto, staycation, budget-friendly and kids. The February blahs are upon us all. We need FUN. We need FANTASTIC. We need FAMILY TIME. We need March Break at Blue Mountain.
Even just a weekend…
Blue Mountain Resort Green Season Pictures
Remember our Family Adventure at Blue Mountain? That was such an awesome family staycation. The 2 hr drive from Toronto was totally do-able (we planned it around nap time). Far enough away that you felt “away” but close enough to home to jot back easily. Ok…google-ing http://www.bluemountain.ca/
Oohh…the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster is still running. I ran that with DD1 (loved that you can control the speed yourself…I’m pretty sure we won the “slowest-to-go-down-ever” contest on that one).
Skating on the pond in the middle of the village?! (The kids paddled on that pond during Green Season – great location to hit pre-dinner – as many Blue Mountain Village restaurants are steps from the pond. Of course, skating is weather dependent so hold up Mother Nature!)
Plunge! Aquatic Centre to get your swimming on! (DD2 fell on the deck and the lifeguard was beside her within seconds with a first aid kit! #FastReaction!)
I’m not a skier (ski-er?! how would you spell that?) so I have no idea about lift tickets pricing. Is a $39 day/night lift ticket a good deal for kids/teens 17 years of age and younger (March 11-15)? The site is telling me about some sort of “Pepsi March Break Week” March 8 – 16, 2013…I don’t know about lodging rates either…
But ohhh…the memories of The Westin Trillium House.
We had the We had the most comfortable suite. Sometimes it’s not-so-comfortable to have a family of 5 in one hotel room but this was awesome. Parents had a big queen size room (and en suite) looking on to the village. The two big kids had their own room (with en suite) with twin beds (and their own T.V. which was a huge hit) to themselves. Connecting the two rooms was a living room (where we placed the crib for the baby) along with a full kitchen. Absolute family comfort!
Guys. I. Want.
The full March Break Activity Schedule At Blue (scavenger hunt, movies, outdoor concert and more) teases me. Muchly. Imagine: husband could ski, big kids could ski school and I could hot chocolate with the baby (oh yes, I did use hot chocolate as a verb. “I hot chocolate” “We hot chocolate” “You should hot chocolate”).
We are all looking for March break family destinations these days? What are your keywords?
Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. The opinions are my own. So is my desire to have some family fun at Blue Mountain during March Break. Want!
You’re right: I should hot chocolate. Looks like a lovely place to spend a great weekend or week! When are you going back? Maybe we could go together? 😉
No plans to go back…which is exactly why I SHOULD make plans to go back. We had a great family staycation there with a little something for us all: DH enjoyed the food, I loved the open walking space and the kids adored the scavenger hunt.
I’d love do get away at Blue Mountain, sounds like a fun family spot.
Only two hours away from the GTA – far enough to feel “away from it all” but close enough to car ride home.
Blue Mountain is one of our favourite places to go. We travel there at least once a year.
We’re going to Blue Mountain for a few days in the middle of March Break. If you have a child in grade 4 or 5, you can use the Snow Pass at Blue Mountain and save $39! http://www.snowpass.ca/
I’ve heard of Blue Mountain but never been there myself. I would love for us to go. Thank you for the information on it and the pictures. Looks really nice!
Do ittt!! Blue Mountain is a great staycation destination for all the reasons you mentioned. I love that there’s always something for everybody!
I would love to bring the family to Blue Mountain! Sounds like a great place for family fun.
