I always encourage my kids to make homemade gifts to give whether it be for a holiday gift, birthday party, or teacher present. Made-by-kid gifts are inexpensive, unique and usually pretty easy. I will make this a series of “Gifts Kids Can Make” posts but for starters…here are my Top 5 Gifts From A Jar.
1. Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix In A Jar
Have kids measure and layer dry ingredients to their fav chocolate chip cookie recipe. Then have them hand write the recipe directions. (we did this 2 years ago – super easy and looked lovely).
2. Layered Soup In A Jar
Have kids measure and layer dry soup mix into jar. Have them hand write the recipe directions.
3. Notes In A Jar
Have the kids hand write notes finishing the sentence “You are special because…”. The gift recipient can pull out a note once a week and read why they are special to your kids. It’s a great teacher present!
4. Snowman Poop In A Jar
A gift sure to make you smile. Have kids fill jar with mini marshmallows (there will be a lot of giggling with this one) and then have them label the jar “SNOWMAN POOP”.
5. Fudge In A Jar
Condensed milk + chocolate = fudge (and yes, kids can make it!). Cut it up and voila – bite sized goodness ready to gift in a jar.
Do you encourage your kid to make gifts?
Love the handmade touch! We have done the cookies in a jar as a birthday “loot” bag and it was a huge hit, such a fab idea for a Teachers Gift!
My son would love the snowman poop in a jar. I may make him some and put it in his stocking! Thanks for the idea.
I love jar based projects!
I tie a small sample sized bottle of baileys to a hot chocolate & marshmellow jar for an adult gift in a jar
I love these, but I’ve only done drink mixes and cookies before!
What great ideas! I really got a good chuckle out of the snowman poop! Hah! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Is there a recipie here for fudge? #5 looks really cool but I don’t understand, do I cook the fudge or just put those ingredients in the jar for the other person to make. I’ve never made fudge… properly before. I tried an Ensure Fudge recipie but it never harden.
OMG this such great ideas. Perfect for gifts too at Christmas. Thanks so much for the great share 🙂
I love gifts in jars! One Christmas we made Hot Chocolate and Sugar Free Hot Chocolate for everyone in our family! My grandkids loved decorating the jars!
