Baby – What to bring to the hospital

July 3, 2012 1 Comment

Wondering what to pack in your hospital bag for baby (and YOU)?  You’re midwife, OB/GYN and/or doula will have suggestions but the following is a guide for things to pack for a hospital birth.

FOR LABOUR

  • Pillow
  • favourite music (ipod, mp3 or dvd)
  • Tennis balls (to roll up and down your back – comforting!)
  • Focus item (photo, inspiration object)
  • Nightgown (to labour in – not a favourite because it might become stained)
  • Sports bra

FOR HOSPITAL STAY

  • Nightgown
  • Underwear
  • Slippers
  • House coat
  • Pads (Heavy flow)
  • Personal toiletries (hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant)
  • Clothes to go home in (something comfortable)
  • Camera
  • Address book
  • Mobile phone

FOR BABY

  • Pack of newborn diapers
  • Newborn hats
  • Sleepers
  • Baby blanket
  • Car seat (In Canada, you can’t leave hospital without presenting a car seat)

Great list. I would add a Nursing Pillow to that list. It would have helped me a lot.
