Wondering what to pack in your hospital bag for baby (and YOU)? You’re midwife, OB/GYN and/or doula will have suggestions but the following is a guide for things to pack for a hospital birth.
FOR LABOUR
- Pillow
- favourite music (ipod, mp3 or dvd)
- Tennis balls (to roll up and down your back – comforting!)
- Focus item (photo, inspiration object)
- Nightgown (to labour in – not a favourite because it might become stained)
- Sports bra
FOR HOSPITAL STAY
- Nightgown
- Underwear
- Slippers
- House coat
- Pads (Heavy flow)
- Personal toiletries (hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant)
- Clothes to go home in (something comfortable)
- Camera
- Address book
- Mobile phone
FOR BABY
- Pack of newborn diapers
- Newborn hats
- Sleepers
- Baby blanket
- Car seat (In Canada, you can’t leave hospital without presenting a car seat)
Great list. I would add a Nursing Pillow to that list. It would have helped me a lot.
