Confession: Yes, I sweat the small stuff. As I’m sure many parents do (ok perhaps not as MUCH as I do – I’m a bit of an over-achiever in the small stuff department).
And the small stuff seems to pile up doesn’t it.
Three days of taking three pairs of shoes back and forth to the shoe store to find just the right fit (because I have issues about kids going to live theatre and believe they should dress up rather than wear jeans). And if you ask why I didn’t take the shoe wearer with me to try on the shoes…well…who in their right mind takes 3 kids shopping after school?!
And dd1 volunteered me to make homemade pizza for the class (27 kids). Thanks for that honey.
And the baby decided sleeping wasn’t the cool thing to do this week.
Little, insignificant small stuff things…stressing me out. And I’m reminded of something my mother said to me (actually she said it quiet often”
KIDS WILL NEVER REMEMBER THE DUST.
They won’t remember that I went back and forth to the store 3 days in a row.
They won’t remember I made homemade pizza for the whole class.
They won’t remember me rocking them back and forth, back and forth at ungodly hours.
They will remember Mom being present in their childhood. And I’m doing that. Without sweat.
I get very worked up about changes in the car. It acts differently and the vast span of what it can cost to fix it gives me anxiety.
