Activities for the long weekend

May 19, 2010 Leave a Comment

The Long Weekend approach-ith! 3 days to play! Whatcha doing?

  • baking something together (or hosting a bar b q and eating baked goods?)
  • road trip? (that’s what we are doing)
  • opening the cottage?
  • going to the beach, park or playground?
  • cleaning up the garden?
  • playing with friends? (big or small)

Long weekends offer so much opportunity to get things done! However, it is also a prime chance for parents to take – at least one day – easy. One day (or even just a few hours) of un-parenting. Like going to the park and letting the kids just run free. Or hanging out in the backyard with a book. Or sneaking out for a drink with a grown up. Part of enjoying the long weekend is not over-programming it (and yes, ME…I wrote that…the Mother of All Planners).

Long weekends are for fun. Have some yourself.

(p.s. fireworks at Toronto Beaches on Monday May 24th – my kids have never gone because it is way past bedtime – but if yours are good to stay up past 8pm – its TTC friendly)
