“Are humans meat?”
“um, huh, pardon?…”
(Aside; we are, in fact, watching National Geographic “family programming” which is generally about animals. Specifically this show is about predators – lucky us).
“Are humans meat? Chicken is meat right? Humans aren’t meat?..”
(Aside; a preditor is currently eating his kill in high definition in our living room. There is no getting out of this conversation.)
“Well, um, if we lived in Africa and a tiger saw us. Yes, it would eat us because – um, well, humans are meat to tigers.” (the narrartor is presenting how a kill brings new life for larvae, flies…what have I done to my child?..)
“But we live in Canada. So humans aren’t meat.”
“No, humans aren’t meat.”
Interesting…I would have said yes. We are certainly meat. But as you say in Canada we are not a food source for anyone so we do not often get used as meat here.An explanation of the food chain may have been an appropriate way to explain why we are generally not meat 🙂
