Do you ever hold a grudge against your kids? Perhaps it’s because they had an outrageously bad behaviour tired day yesterday. Perhaps it’s because they woke up constantly through the night — therefore waking you constantly through the night. Perhaps it was the endless whining of the morning.
Does this make you have a short fuse? Hold a grudge? Brace yourself for the day? It’s hard to let go of resentment, fatigue, and general you’ve-worn-me-out feelings. Especially, when you are faced with busy days – whether it be inside or outside of the home.
Try to breath. Shake up the routine or stick darn hard to it – whichever will get you through the grudge day. Just remember the kids are probably tired, not feeling well or just out of sorts. Teach them empathy by being empathetic yourself.
Then, when the kids are finally tucked into bed…recharge your batteries. Enjoy a long shower (lock the door), drink a big cup of tea (or glass of wine), google a bit or read a magazine. Energize, centre yourself and relax. Tomorrow is another day.
