What you will need:

Go to dollar store and buy sets of different colored socks. (Our dollarama had 3 sets of socks for $3 each. So I bought one set grey and one set black). While you’re there also pick up two 1 pound bags of plain white rice.

Total cost: $10

How to make the bean bags (rice bags):

Have the kids scoop one cup of white rice into each stock. You might need a funnel.  You might not. Depends on the coordination of the kid. When the cup of rice is in the sock -> double knot the top of the sock so that nothing comes out. Done.

DIY Bean Bag Play Ideas:
  • Tic Tac Toe
  • hopscotch
  • throwing competition
  • scavenger hunt
  • treasure hunt
  • bases for baseball
  • soccer net markers
  • relay running passing things (instead of batons)

SHARE: Any other ideas on what games you can play with bean bags?

I think it’s a great idea to make these yourself and you’re also using products that make it cheap plus it’s an easy task.
