These Tips To Make Your Summer Road Trip Easier will certainly make your next family voyage more enjoyable. From snacks to boredom busters to how to protect your family on the roads this summer – this is a summer road trip guide for every family…
Tips To Make Your Summer Road Trip Easier
Road trip snacks can make travelling a little easier. I always pack a smaller cooler bag of refillable bottles with water and an ice pack. Water quenches any thirst. I also pack a bag full of snacks…trail mix, pretzels, animal crackers (which actually calm my kids’ tummies if they feel car sick), and dry cereal. I advise to stay away from sugar-filled treats as you don’t want any sugar highs (or sugar meltdowns) while you are mid-trip.
Boredom busters for kids for road trips. Music is the perfect boredom buster for my teens (seriously, they could listen to their music for hours). For my 5 year old…our portable dvd player is my saving grace for a road trip (and yes, better than a tablet because once the DVD is done…screen time is over). You can also try some family road trip boredom busters like carpool karaoke, road trip bingo, or a game of eye spy.
Protect your family on the roads this summer by making your vehicle road ready.
Michelin’s Premier Family of Tires offer ultimate safety for all your summer road trip needs. The all season tires use special EverGrip Technology. Due to this award winning technology, Premier tires have new grooves emerge as the tire wears down, allowing Premier tires to be safe when new and safe when worn. They are extremely durable, come with a limited 100km warranty and offer confident handling in all summer weather conditions.
Plan potty breaks and family fun stops. Break up your road trip with stops along the way. But think outside the gas station when it comes to your rest stops. Check the map and look for interesting family attractions along the way at which you can stop and visit (farm, park, or lake). Visit a small town just off the next exit. Stay overnight in a hotel which has a pool.

These are all great tips. My girls usually have dvd players with when we’re on long car rides. It definitely keeps them busy and gives them something to do.

These are all great tips and I agree that teenagers sure do love their music. There are also those travel-sized games that you can play as well like Battleship, Backgammon and such.

My kids plan out which movies they’re going to watch days before we even leave. My husband is the one that has to keep stopping to use the potty, all that coffee catches up with him.

Speaking of tires, I need to pick up an extra one for my car. I can’t believe spare tires do not come standard with new cars these days.

These are all great tips. My son has a tendency to feel a bit car sick when we do longer trips; I’ll have to try the animal crackers with him! I often look on Trip Advisor or Roadside America for neat places to stop along our route. We’ve found some pretty interesting things this way and it makes the trip more memorable!

We’ve been contemplating getting a car with those built-in TVs but I agree with you and the portable DVD player. We can bring them around anywhere and it’ll be a lot more cost-effective!

Great road trip tips. We’re huge road trip fans and always take our car in for a thorough check-up before we leave. We’re also fans of Michelin tires. We have them on both our cars.

There are a few of these tips that we follow already. For instance, we always bring snacks along. You never know when you are going to get hungry. And, we take plenty of potty breaks. It isn’t good to be sitting in a car for hours on end. You need to stretch your legs some, and get a break from the ride.

You shared some good tips here. One of the best was the one about snacks. Trips will be better whenever you can keep children well fed and not begging for snack!

Road trips always go better when I remember snacks and games. We have a few games we like to play while we are on the highway. It is a great way to keep the kids distracted.

I agree with your tips and especially about finding ways to take breaks beyond just the gas station. We typically eat a packed lunch and always keep an eye out for a good place to have that picnic lunch. It can be at a picnic table at a park but also on a blanket at a place with a nice view and room to stretch ones legs.
