See what I did in that picture for a decathlon in our backyard? I made an obstacle course using things we already have around the house. The play tunnel, a hula hoop, soccer ball, Bounty paper towel, Swim noodles — and to that we added things you don’t need equipment for like jumping jacks, turning around, and running (you could even add in burpees). It literally took minutes to set up yet was so much physical fun.
Kids’ Olympic Ideas…
Olympic sports and household products you can use…
Long Jump: spray a line of Gillette shaving cream on the sidewalk and use that as the jump mark
Relay Race: use a roll of Bounty paper towel as the baton
Basketball: wad up Puffs tissue and throw into trash bin
Shot put: fill a bottle of Dawn dish soap with water and throw (be careful – don’t hit anyone – best done in an open field or big backyard – kids stand behind the shotput-ter).
Decathlon: see how I did it above
Rhythmic Gymnastics: Move around with bubble wand and bubbles made from Dawn dish soap
And this isn’t simply a one player kids’ Olympics! These kids’ activities all lend themselves well to birthday party activities, play date ideas, and even family fun night (adults Vs kids maybe?!).
As Olympics near, it’s fun to set up engagement ways for your family to get active and enjoy Olympic fun in your own backyard.
You could even make gold, silver, and bronze medals — or — give out HOMEMADE POPSICLES 🙂

These are fun ideas! My kiddos are already bored and I’ve only been out of school for a few weeks. I have to do something like this in our backyard.
My kids are four legged and furry, so I would use chew toys for the relay batons. After that, things will pretty much descend into wrestling. LOL
Love your ideas! Very creative. I always enjoyed participating in junior olympics when I was back in school and so did my kids. I’m going to share this with my cousin who has little kids at the perfect age for this! 🙂
This is such a fun way to get your kids out and exercising! If my kids were younger I’d definitely be outside doing these with them right now. Also, thanks for sharing that video, it was really awesome

Fun ideas! I would probably use toilet paper rolls somehow as my daughter is always saving them and reusing them.

Olympic themed activities are fun to do, Mark Oldershaw from the Canadian Canoe Sprint team who won a bronze medal in the last Olympics owns a house on our street. We keep telling him when he is here to bring his medal with him so the kids can see it
