I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Dave Greenberg at a pregnancy preparedness Q&A session hosted by First response. Pregnancy can seem effortless for some couples, yet can be a struggle for others. From that conversation, I am sharing some of the tidbits of knowledge I gleaned which might make your conception a little easier.
Ovulation: Tips For Getting Pregnant
Dr. David Greenberg is currently on staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre where he plays a leadership role in the areas of Family medicine, Obstetrics, and Continuing Medical Education.
According to Dr. Dave, pregnancy is like a snowflake (each one is unique). As more women wait to have children (they are finishing education, digging into careers, travelling – all good things!), the clock seems to tick louder once a woman is ready to get pregnant.
Before you jump into expensive IVF explorations, do some homework. Are you anxious? What are your expectations? Yes, it’s true: stress can affect getting pregnant. (You know what they say about a watched pot.) Relax. Be patient.
Discover your ovulation cycle. Make use of a digital ovulation test kit like First Response Ovulation to track your cycle. Then, between days 10-20, have sex every other day to increase your chances of getting pregnant. Use First Response Ovulation tests for three months to gather information and to create a baseline which you can take to your doctor.
Get pregnant sooner with FIRST REPONSE®. Introducing the FIRST RESPONSE® Digital 20ct Ovulation Predictor Test. It’s the only ovulation test that actually detects and tracks your personal daily baseline levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) to detect your personal LH surge, unlike other ovulation tests that use a preset “average” level to determine an LH surge. It’s over 99% accurate (at detecting LH surge in laboratory studies), and unmistakable YES+/NO- results are clear and easy to understand: YES+ means try to conceive in the next 24-36 hours; NO- means continue to test daily. This sounds like a great help for women! Luckily I didn;t have much trouble 🙂
We just had baby #4 and with a few of my babies we did have to take ovulation tests to pin point when I was ovulating. It took over a year to get pregnant with my second daughter.

Thankfully that’s not an issue I need to worry about. I seem to get pregnant a little too easily.
I was lucky enough to not need help in becoming a mom but my oldest daughter has tried for the last few years and after having 2 miscarriages, she’s really depressed. The main issue is that she has PCOS.
These are awesome tips! I have plenty of friends who will appreciate this.
Wow, great tips! We aren’t planning on having any more, but I will share with those that are trying.

These are great tips. I can definitely vouch for the stress factor. Our last baby was the easiest to conceive and it’s because we weren’t “trying” but just going with the flow and if we happened to get pregnant then yay!
