Back from some family field trips and I thought it timely to share What To Pack On A Family Day Out. You want the essential items your family needs without the bulk of carry a lot of weight in your bag. These tips on What To Pack On A Family Day Out may make your outings a little easier…
What To Pack On A Family Day Out
To start, I ditched my regular Nella Bella cardinal tote – which I love but can be too bulky for a day trip. I opt for a sling bag like this MEC right shoulder sling (one of my fav. features of my MEC bag is that the water bottle holder is on the outside of the bag for easy hydration). You definitely want hands free on a family outing.
Next were my essentials that I knew would come in handy on a day trip with my kids.
And this is only what I carried. I had my kids wear weather appropriate clothes (including hats and sunglasses).
No, I don’t carry extra kid clothes with me…but I did learn a lesson after my son decided to go up to his knees in a lake…pack a change of clothes in a bag and leave them in the car. That way – at least the kids are dry as you drive home!
thankfully I only have to pack for myself these days, I do remember when I had to pack for 9 when we were going out for the day/weekend/holidays 🙂
For us it’s snacks. I never leave home without lots of snacks.
On a family day out, I MUST have my chapstick and Tylenol for the kids. I normally overpack but better to be safe than sorry.
Great suggestions! I always have to bring snacks, wipes and water no matter where we go!
I think most of these items stay in my car at all times. I don’t like to be caught unprepared!
Sunscreen and water is definitely important. You don’t want to get burned.
These are serious essentials. It is the worst when public restrooms don’t have soap!
Great basic start on a day out! We pack a little more for day trips, depends on where you go I guess and what you do!
Looks like a bag I would pack! Germ gel is a necessity so is gum!
We take a lot of this. Also, we always make sure to have sunscreen!
I’m not a big hand sanitizer person, but it is good in case of emergency! Definitely sunscreen too.
Sounds like a great list. I’m going to have to bookmark!
Looks like you’ve got it covered! I can’t think of anything else I would need.
I definitely need to know this for when I’m a mommy! I am usually a very light packer 😛
This is a great list of things to pack. I always forget a snack for the kids!
Great list! I’m certainly all about that hand sanitizer LOL
lol for house keys.. I tend to forget them and it is a problem.. This is a great checklist for a day out
These are great tips for what to bring on an outing. I always try to add a change of clothes for the kids.
All these are essential items for travel. Great list idea for travel with kids and I do follow the same list most times. A informative post to share with friends too.
That’s a great list! Glad to see water and sunscreen on there … definitely at the top of my list.
great tips I am not usually the best packer
With an infant and a four year old, a change of clothes each is a MUST! So many spills and messes!
