January 12, 2015 19 Comments

School breaks and snow days can be long. Here are my pics for 20+ Winter Activities To Keep Kids Busy (and yes, we’ve done them all – tried, true, and tested!). It’s a mix of outdoor and indoor activities for all ages – to give you a choice of the perfect boredom buster! What are you going to do today?…

20+ Winter Activities To Keep Kids Busy

20+ Winter Activities To Keep Kids Busy

  1. Go sledding
  2. Make snow angels
  3. Build a snowman
  4. Construct a snow fort
  5. Drop food colouring into snow
  6. Hide Geocache treasures in the snow – make a map for friends to find them
  7. Play a board game
  8. Read a book
  9. Write a book
  10. Build a tower using a deck of cards
  11. Have a tea party
  12. Make a craft using cardboard toilet paper rolls
  13. Decorate a cardboard box (make it a house, race car, space ship)
  14. Do a treasure hunt inside the house
  15. Host a play date
  16. Play Simon Says
  17. Dance in the living room
  18. Build a blanket fort using kitchen chairs and a quilt
  19. Role play with dress up clothes
  20. Put together a puzzle
  21. Play freeze dance

These are also great activities to do when you are hosting a play date. Screen free, no batteries or usb cables required! And all of my 20+ Winter Activities To Keep Kids Busy are FREE (which is always the right price for keeping kids busy n’est pas?). Interested in something a little more hands-on craft for kids type of activities?  May I suggest these…

toilet paper mouse craft
Toilet Paper Roll Craft
Handprint heart craft
Handprint Heart Craft
Remembrance Day Craft, Kids, Poppy Craft

The toilet paper roll craft is great for younger kids. Older kids will like the handprint heart craft. And secret confession: the coffee filter craft was created after my son accidentally spilled his sippy cup on his older sister’s art project.

I’ve been there! I know how closed off it can feel when you are trapped inside and have a baby to watch (with a busy toddler). Hope you play dress up often 😉

I’m a hermit myself (when it comes to cold weather days) but getting outside is good for play.

Great ideas. I always liked to keep crafts on hand, or have a cookie making day for those really cold days when we lived in the far north.
