Exciting news for on-line shoppers like me (and if you aren’t shopping online for holiday gifts you should start – no line ups, no searching for a parking space, no hiring a sitter so you can holiday shop). Canada Post has launched Delivered Tonight – and one of its partners is Mastermind Toys (one of my fav. Canadian online retailers). Delivered Tonight is going to make holiday shopping so much easier!
Basically, Canada Post has partnered with some certain Canadian retailers (Mastermind Toys, Indigo, Best Buy/Future Shop and more) offering same day delivery service to select customers within the Greater Toronto Area. The cut off times for delivery vary between retailers. The price varies for each retailer and is up to the retailer to set (yes, some are offering it FREE).
Imagine…you order Stocking Stuffers from Mastermind Toys before noon today and it gets delivered by 9pm tonight. I would so use this service…wouldn’t you?!
This pilot project from Canada Post runs until end-of-shopping-season.
Personally, Canada Post is my preferred mailing option. Why? Because I really hate missing a package and I really appreciate the “Pick up at postal outlet” notice on my door rather than the “We missed you…now haul it over to our warehouse…with your toddler…in the snow…to pick it up your package” (ok – I’m paraphrasing there). My postal outlet is in my neighbourhood. The hours are friendly to my busy schedule. I know Canada Post will take care of my packages.

what a fantastic offer. I must admit having lived in Germany for many, many years I am used to next day delivery. Yes I know that Germany is much smaller than Canada but it is still quite a feat to achieve even in Germany – impossible here of course due to the distances involved.
Getting this close to the holidays – fast shipping is such a good thing. I will certainly be using this service myself! And some of the retailers offer it FREE.
This is pretty awesome. Too bad I’m not in the GTA. I do love that around the holidays companies find ways to make things easier! Great incentive to shop with those companies!! I try and find places I can order online but go in-store to pick up.. this way I know I have it when I need it and don’t need to rely on the postal service, ups, etc.
I wish this applied to the rest of the country lol I do agree with you though, in preferring Canada Post. I hate schlopping off to a courier co and or waiting for them to come back the next day.

I wish they had this in my area, but we are so Northern. We use Canada Post all the time.
