Frigidaire Full Induction Freestanding Range

October 10, 2013 19 Comments

Some things change your life. A Frigidaire  Full Induction Range did it for me. Five elements so I can cook more at once. It pre-heats in less than four minutes. An oven space big enough for three racks of baking goodness. This. Changed. My. Life.Frigidaire Full Induction Freestanding Range

I am fortunate to be able to review a lot of household products and by far…BY FAR dear readers…does this Frigidaire Full Induction Freestanding Range goes to the top of the Parent Club Approved List. It makes cooking easy…which makes family life easier.

Now, let me give you a backgrounder of where I am coming from…cooking wise…

My middle ages (we could even say…prehistoric) freestanding electric stove top was…well…let’s not put down my old oven. It did it’s time well (well-enough). It cooked…we can certainly testify that it cooked.  But there were some drawbacks to my dinosaur appliance. Stuff got stuck in the coils. The timer never worked. There was a hot spot in the far left corner of the oven so I had to continually move baked goods every 20 minutes to avoid burning.  The self-cleaning feature was me…on my hands and knees…with my head in the oven…cleaning sponge in one hand while the other shooed away a curious toddler.

My old oven did not make life easy. But this…this makes life easier ->

Frigidaire Freestanding Range

I told you I would one day show you my paella. With my old cook top, my paella would take one and a half to two hours to cook. With the brilliance of this Frigidaire Full Induction Freestanding Range my paella was cooked in under an hour. Under an hour!

Paella cooking

The Frigidaire Full Induction Freestanding Range boils quickly yet it is very responsive (more so than my old electric stove top) so I can easily go from boil to simmer (very important as those who have cooked a paella know). This was a huge contribution in getting my paella cooked in under an hour.

And my lovely induction paella pan?…yes, I bought it special when I was in Spain. However, most of my favourite cookware was compatible with the induction range.

TIP: If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the cookware, it’s induction-friendly.

You’ll remember my ghoulishly good post on How To Make Meringue Ghosts – well, they were baked in the large Frigidaire Full Induction Freestanding Oven! Fast pre-heat, timer set, and baked (with no hot spots in the oven! – which is astonishing to me). It is such a pleasure to bake and cook now. Simply because it is so. much. easier.

And there are those…in my house…who appreciate it when cooking is easier for Mommy. It means muffins. More often.

What do you prefer…electric, gas or induction? (now that I’ve tried induction I’ll never go back)

What a great looking and sounding range! I love the pic of the back of your son’s head watching the goings on in the oven. I remember doing that, my kids did that and now my grandkids are doing it! I wish I’d had this great range!

    Thanks

I loved that picture too. It’s kinda classic – the kid watching and waiting for the oven to stop doing it’s thing so they can enjoy the baked goodness. And this range is amazing for that.

I agree, induction is FANTASTIC! Now to figure out what to do with all this free time (except clean, haha)

There really is a ton of free time since the induction cooks so quickly…

and…what’s this “clean” you speak of?! *pretends she doesn’t understand* 😉

We’ve only had problems with our range. I think it’s time we look into a Frigidaire.

Now that I’ve tried the Frigidaire range I don’t think I would ever use anything else. It is so SO good!

An induction oven would be my dream. We live in a rental and so are stuck with what was here. Which is an oven that functions, and bakes things on a slant! So jealous as I love baking.

It has everyone one would want on a oven wish list (and more). Certainly a good mad money savings use!

Induction has been well used in Europe for decades…for good reasons….Clean, safer and certainly fast (the only real alternative to Gas). Glad to see this technology being adopted here ….finally.

I love the way your son is watching the muffins bake, typical for a child. Or of course there’s also a front loader where one can watch the washing being whizzed around for amusement too.

I am jealous! I would love a range like this! But we just bought a new one last year so I think it will be a few years before I can justify buying a new one. Love the picture of you son watching what was going on in the oven!
