The Baby’s Room

March 21, 2013

With every one of my babies, I did a bit of newborn nesting. First time pregnant I bought a new crib. Second time, new baby sheets. Third time, a new sleep sack. Nesting is a good thing. There is so much unknown when it comes to kids…getting the baby’s room ready is one tangible way to prepare yourself.

The Baby's Room

A multi-purpose crib is a must (yes, mine is a Stork Craft and it has lived through my three babies plus having been borrowed out to two other newborns). I find it so smart that modern cribs grow with your child (from crib to toddler bed to day bed to double bed). This one piece of furniture can last a childhood. If only I could say the same about the clothes *sigh*.

Aside: This past weekend I found a bag of newborn clothes in a bin in the basement. I had packed them away so well (after dear daughter 2) I couldn’t find them for the newborn stage of dear son. He probably would have only lasted a month in those newborn duds but they would have been a welcome addition to the baby’s room (as you know how often newborns need changing!).
The Baby's Room

Things in the baby’s room right this very minute…his bedding, his wet bag, his sleepsack…everyday items…used every single day. What’s missing? A diaper organizer (well, I kinda have one…it’s called THE FLOOR).

The baby’s room is one of my favourite places in our house. I rock him there. I read to him there. We cuddle him, change him, and play with him there. The baby’s room is a place of comfort. Bliss. Of hopes and memories.

When you do newborn nesting, I guess you aren’t just preparing for your baby…you are preparing for your new family life.

Sears The Baby’s Room is launching the Newborn Nesting Event!

This promotion will be live from March 22 – April 4, and will be available in Sears The Baby’s Room locations across Canada.

If you buy $250 (before tax) worth of nursery must-haves (including cribs, furniture, gliders, and nursery decor/bedding) you’ll receive 15% back on a cash card! This cash card works similarly to a gift card, so you can come back to The Baby’s Room for any last-minute additions to your nursery until May 31!

Disclosure: I am part of the Sears Canada The Baby’s RoomAmbassador program with Mom Central Canada and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own

Wow! It’s actually really surprising how much prep has to go into a baby room! That organizer is AMAZING!

It’s hard to realize the gear you need everyday with a baby…crib, crib mattress, sheets, change table, change mat, diapers, wipes, furniture, clothing…and that’s just the start!

I’m nesting right now! Baby boy #2 is due in July. I love Sears Baby Room. I love that they now carry Carters clothing.

I remember being at a friends shower for her first baby. She asked how to get rid of that new drawer smell. Another friend said after a few weeks of changing diapers you’ll be sticking your head in that drawer for relief.

I love the fact that now-a-days you can get a multi-purpose crib that grows with the child. They weren’t around when mine were babies, many many years ago and I think it’s a great idea.
