Easy Sunday Brunch

March 14, 2013 8 Comments

Time to get kids into action and let them help make an easy Sunday brunch. That’s right – I said it – “let them help”. Kids love to help if you make it fun. So blast some happy music, do some kitchen dancing, and get your easy Sunday brunch on!

My kids LOVE to cook (even the toddler is all “Me stir! Me stir!” these days).Easy Sunday Brunch

Easy Sunday Brunch

Butterball Turkey Bacon Salad

  • Iceberg lettuce
  • Butterball turkey bacon
  • Last nights cooked corn
  • Grape tomatoes
  • Home made vinaigrette (Note to self: share vinaigrette recipe on Parent Club soon!)

Get the kids washing, drying (they love the salad spinner!) and tearing up the salad. Wash grape tomatoes. Raid fridge for the cooked corn from last night’s dinner. In the meantime, heat up the stove top and cook turkey bacon (my 12-year-old is big enough to be the “bacon flipper” – and know what?! – turkey bacon doesn’t splatter like that other bacon – much safer for kids to cook!).

Know what would go well with this? Mango Fruit Salad.

And I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t switch this up into a kid-friendly meal…

Easy Sunday Brunch

Looks a bit like a happy face doesn’t it? Yummy turkey bacon, half an english muffin, a mini potato omelette, and some grape tomatoes round out this easy Sunday brunch menu.

I guess what I like best about Sunday brunch is that is so much more relaxed. No rushing to go somewhere. No hurrying to clean up. You can just enjoy your food, your family, and your Sunday in bliss. And we could all use a little more bliss these days n’est pas?…

I love the new Butterball Turkey Bacon! More than that, I love the juxtaposition between the adult and kid’s-friendly lunch.

Same meal ingredients (basically) but a whole ‘nother meal (parents Vs kids – the usual food issue in my house)

I’ve never tried turkey bacon; I’ve never been quite sure if it would be good or not. I love the happy face brunch plate!

I have not tried turkey bacon. Both the salad and the rest of brunch look fabulous.

This looks really good. I’ve never thought of using leftover corn in a salad but it looks good.
