Re-purpose a baby food jar into a homemade snow globe. We did this as a birthday party activity (a babysitting themed birthday party for 11 year old girls) but it works as a great family activity for winter school break too.
You will need:
- a glass baby jar with lid
- super glue
- bathroom caulking (or water proof super glue)
- a glue-able figurine (plastic, crystal or metal will do. Anything paper will dissolve in water)
- Glitter
- Water (enough to fill jar ¾ full)
Directions:
- Glue the figurine to the lid of the baby food jar. Set aside for it to dry.
- Fill baby food jar ¾ full with water. Add glitter. Spread caulking around outside tip of jar (work quickly).
- Then seal lid on jar.
- DO NOT TURN OVER YET.
- Set aside, right side up (so metal lid is on the top) and allow caulking to dry.
Tip: put a dab of caulking on a paper plate – when that is dry you can turn your baby food snow globe over.
Ooo what a great way to recycle!
