Hidden Valley Ranch™ Recipe Challenge

July 1, 2012 1 Comment

THE MISSION: Create something delish using Hidden Valley Ranch products

THE PEOPLE: I’m one of 15 of Canada’s top foodie bloggers chosen for this mission (crazy huh?)

THE “WHAT-THEY-DON’T-KNOW”: I cook for the pickiest eaters on the planet – usually by stirring with one hand and holding a baby in the other. I am no recipe-junkie. I’m just happy if they eat a nutritious meal.

THE INGREDIENTS:

THE KID-INSPIRED-SIDE:

Take your kids’ fav raw vegetables (inspiration can come from: lettuce, carrots, celery, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, radish).  Wash and cut veggies into sticks (or circles – kids like shapes!).

Add some Hidden Valley Ranch for dipping.  My daughter prefers The Orignal Ranch but others may like the Spicy, Cheese or light versions.

TIP: We all know kids like food that has a fun presentation.

  • A muffin tray (keep foods separate because gawd forbid they touch!)
  • Glass (Ranch on the bottom and vegetables sticking out the top)
  • Tupperware veggie tray
  • Clean mini sand pails
  • Clean plastic egg container

Kids eat their vegetables in a fun way by dipping (and even double dipping on their own plates if they like!).

PARENT SWITCH UP: Take the lettuce, cut cucumbers, radish, celery, peppers et al and turn them into a garden salad.  Same ingredients – different presentation.

It’s a chop once and eat two different ways type of meal.

Disclosure: I was provided a gift card to cover groceries for this recipe creation as well as Hidden Valley samples. The opinions in this post are my own.

Hidden Valley Ranch has the best Ranch dressing, hands down! I agree that kid do like the way you present food to them.
