Today, I took my dear daughter out of school (don’t call children’s aid just yet) and joined 18,000 students to cover We Day. And. it. was. epic.
Hosts Joe Jonas (yes that Joe) and Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries) pumped the crowd and introduced them to a slew of wow-factor speakers. Mary Robinson (1st female president of Ireland), Dr. Patch Adams (who we missed), Craig and Marc Kielburger (Founders of Free the Children).
Post dropping: I interviewed Craig a few months back.
Spencer West, Nelly Furtado, Nikki Yanofsky, Shawn Desman and the Kenyan Boys Choir all appeared, performed and supported youth to make the world a better place.
I think my favourite quote was from Danny Glover (actor) “One person can inspire another person who will in turn inspire yet another person – all over the world, no matter their age, race or nationality”.
It was an epic day of inspiration, motivation, empowerment and education of what We can do for global change. It was probably one of the most educational days of my daughter’s life.
The We Day special will air on Muchmusic Sun Oct. 30 at 7pm and 10pm ET
