8am: Start packing (ugh, should have done this last night). What? You want breakfast now?
10am: family in car. Snack bag (check). Toys (check). mp3 players (check). Portable dvd (check). Geez, we are wired. I remember going on family trips without any of this crap.
12am: African Lion Safari
(not the final destination – but it was on the way so we decided to detour). $100 for the 4 of us to enter. We decided to take our car through instead of getting on the populated bus. Thing 2 was a little freaked out seeing zebras so close. Thing 1 (the little animal lover) thought it was great. We stopped at the restaurant and ate our first yucky roadside meal of the day. Should have continued driving and hit a Tim Hortons.
2pm; movie in the backseat. quiet up front. love that.
4pm; still in the car. geez, this is a boring trip.
5pm; waiting ONE HOUR to cross the border at Sarnia/Port Huron (that’s a Canada/US boarder bridge). We finally pass the toll (which to note is one amount crossing one way and a whole other amount crossing back…hmmm). Detour to the duty free shop to hit the bathrooms as I really don’t think young bladders can stand another hour of waiting.
7pm; finally at our Detroit, USA destination. Long trip. Oh well, at least we’re away from the laundry room.
