February is the month of blahs – not only in terms of weather but school lunches. We have all made umpteen sandwiches by February and even the lunch-makers are bored of le sandwich. Here’s how to shake it up…but keep it easy…
MAKE YOUR THERMOS YOUR FRIEND
Turn tonight’s dinner into tomorrow’s school lunch. Easy to put leftovers in the thermos as you are clearing the table (Tip: filling the thermos the night before ensures you have the right quantity to fill the container).
Then, in the am, simply warm the food in a microwaveable dish (don’t forget to warm the thermos with boiling water for 8 minutes too). Then, put hot food in thermos and send it to school. A hot lunch is a good thing in winter!

My kids also like the Kiderogies (perogies) by Cheemo found in the freezer section of most grocery stores, with a side of applesauce and/or sour cream. Another favourite is chicken empanadas (I buy them pre-made from the Longo's fresh counter).Mmmmm…I'm getting hungry!
