And most of the time, you won’t have looked at those boxes since. That’s a good sign that you can throw out whatever’s in there. Of course, there will be sentimental items as well. So, make sure you check through everything before you get rid of it. If it’s just random things you know you’re not going to need, here’s what you can do. You can bin it, sell it, or donate it.
After all, you need the space to fit a desk so you need to clear things out.
Make It Secure
Unlike most other home office options, your garage is quite vulnerable since it opens up onto the street. Even if you have a door from the garage to your house. There’s still going to be a door to the driveway and the road as well. That means it’s less secure than a room inside your house. So, you’ll need make it safer so your work things, like a computer and a printer, for example, are protected.
The first thing to do is to invest in either a new garage door. Or a garage door repair service if your current door isn’t as secure as you would like it to be. Put strong locks on the door, and perhaps use smart locks that only open with a fingerprint or facial recognition. You should also install an alarm so that if anything did go wrong.
Make It Comfortable
Finally, if you’re going to be working in the office it needs to be comfortable. Add insulation to keep the heat in during winter and keep things cool during summer. Have good lighting that doesn’t irritate the eyes or cause headaches.
You’ll also need ergonomic furniture. Take some time to choose the items that look great in your lovely new home office.
