Make Dinner with #MoreAmore! I am inspired from my recent attendance at the “From Italy with Amore” tasting event at the Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens. Confession: I make traditional and gluten-free pasta once a week for dinner (comfort food!). Here are some fresh and easy ideas to make dinner with #MoreAmore!…
#MoreAmore Inspiration
- Cheese and antipasto board (suggestion: try Lupo cheese or Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese)
- Pasta with no-cook tomato sauce (read below for directions!)
- Olive tastings (a section from Italy of course)
- Quick saute steak with PC Black Label Balsamic Vinegar of Modena (yum!)
- Tiramisu (no bake)
- Lemon pasta with tuna, olive oil, and basil
This selection of authentically Italian ingredients found at your local Loblaws Market store was a feast. I would certainly use my photos from that evening as a guide book for hosting my next dinner party.
The cheese board was simple yet sophisticated. And I happen to love sharp, firm, cheese. It matched nicely with the olive tray because it allowed guests to enjoy appetizers in a self-serve style.
The quick saute steak with balsamic vinegar was AMAZING. I know you generally think: vinegar with steak? But it gave just the right kick (and you only need a splash). It took Chef Massimo Bruno only minutes to make.
The Tiramisu is no bake brilliance. Savoiardi biscuits, espresso, mascarpone, cream. And you can make it the night before!
And for a cook-from-the-pantry meal…mix together cooked pasta, lemon juice, a can of Rio tuna, more olive oil and some chopped basil. Dinner is done!.
But about that pasta with no-cook tomato sauce…
Here is your shopping list for Loblaws…pasta, olive oil, fresh cherry tomatoes, and fresh basil.
Cook pasta according to directions. TIP: salt the water while you bring it to a boil! In a separate bowl, add chopped tomatoes, olive oil, and chopped basil. Mix together (it gets better over time as the flavours marry – so you could make the tomato mixture up to 2 hours ahead and store covered in an airtight container).
You could make the no-cook pasta sauce for dinner (or use as a fresh side salad). And why not make steak with balsamic vinegar as your meat entree? Or skip traditional meals altogether and just serve a cheese and antipasto tray with fresh bread? Making dinner with #MoreAmore is easy when you shop at your local Loblaws.

Nice ideas, though I’ve not seen this at my Superstore but then I shop more often at No Frills as that’s here. My daughter has a very expensive Balsamic Vinegar that is out of this world taste wise and makes a simple dip of that with a really good olive oil, fresh bread to go with it, so yummy.
