Also, these are definately Halloween recipes which you can make in the kitchen with kids — so think of them as snacks and boredom busters!
Halloween Snack Ideas
Keep an eye on @ParentClub on Instagram and @ParentClub on Twitter for these Halloween Snack Ideas.
- SKELETONS = Popcorn in plastic bag with face drawn on plastic. I would draw the face as two black circles for eyes and then a horizontal line with two or three vertical lines for the mouth.
- MUMMIES = Hot dogs covered with crescent rolls. Bake the crescent rolls according to package directions. I would half the hot dogs (it makes more mummies and is a bit more lil’ hand friendly).
- PUMPKINS = Clementine’s, tangerines or oranges with triangle face. I would use a food safe black marker to draw triangle eyes and a rectangle mouth.
- BATS = Plastic bag with goldfish crackers with clothespin separating wings. Fill the bag with fish crackers then put a clothespin up the middle to create bat-wings. You could colour the clothespin with a black marker and put google-y eyes on it to make it look like a real bat.
- SNAKES = Homemade bread sticks with olive eyes. You could either make stick bread sticks or circle them to make a sitting snake. Bake according to bread stick directions. You can cut the olives to fit the face of your snake.
- WORMS & DIRT = Chocolate pudding with cookie crumbs & gummie worms. This one works best in a clear class or plastic cup so you can see the layers.
- GHOSTS =Mozzarella cheese strings with face drawn on plastic. Draw two circle eyes and a circle mouth to make the ghost face. This is a fun school lunch addition.
- MONSTERS = Cake or cupcake with frosting and candy eyeballs. You can get candy eyeballs in cake decorating shops, bulk food stores and most grocery stores in the baking section. You could also tint the frosting with food colouring (purple perhaps) to give the monster cake a fun monster feeling.

Dirt & Worms Pudding was something my daughter loved me to make when she was little – 2 decades ago! Nice to see kids still enjoy it.
